Newsletter Issue 238

Hello everyone,

I do have some sad news to announce but I want to do it separately when I have a photo.

We do have some really good news. Ross Bolland, a young man who you may have seen at the club has just won the singles in Disability Bowls England. He had various people coaching him at MidGlos and I’m delighted to say that your hard work and his paid off. Well done Ross!

On Saturday, there was a working party to get rid of a lot of rubbish which had accumulated over the years. The skip was ordered for two days but, thanks to the help of several people and their tools – a chain saw, heavy duty hammers and a rather large axe, the work was done in a morning.

As you can see, it’s not all hard work – there’s great camaraderie! We found some old Christmas stuff that we no longer use which was put to good use for the obligatory “hard hats” – compulsory for such work!!!

All the “iffy” chairs have gone along with George Ridgeon’s well-used wheelchair and much, much more. A great job done! Well done and a huge “thank you” to all the volunteers. It was all rounded off with tea/coffee and bacon baps. Can’t be bad!

In the afternoon, sixteen skittlers came along to try out bowling. Howard and Jill Whiting, helped later by Graham Whiting, guided them through a mini tournament ending with a winner who had a joke photo with the Under 18s huge cup (on display near reception). They all thoroughly enjoyed it and were very complimentary of our brilliant facility.

That’s all for today but tomorrow I’ll announce the sad news.

Take care,

Linda.
