Newsletter Issue 237

Hello again….. again one day late. This time, because of Easter.

Hope you had a good time. We spent a lovely couple of days with both daughters and their families. It’s so lovely to have the whole family together even though it makes us feel rather old!

The following email was posted on our Facebook page, forwarded to Kath who forwarded it to Noddy as requested and then on to me for inclusion in the newsletter.

Hi,

We played against your members last Sunday down at Torquay Toorak Hotel. I would just like to thank Noddy for a warm friendly welcome. We played 2 games 1 in the morning 1 in the afternoon. We lost both but we all enjoyed the game and banter especially when I had the pleasure of playing against Noddy, Hilda, Dave and Alec. Dave had more jam than Hartleys.🤣🤣🤣.

We had a great time and my group said they had enjoyed the game and company. Thank you Noddy. Oh by the way unfortunately I have a bad memory for names but did the gentleman of the wrong biases like his certificate and chocolate tea pot?

Looking  forward to meeting up again at some point in the future.🤝🤝

Mick Lawrence … President of Melton and District indoor Bowls Club.

The Alec in question was indeed Malcolm and I’m not going to name the individual of the wrong biases but anyone who comes to the Friday evening umbrella will know to whom it refers since this is a regular occurrence! He did excel himself though since it’s usually only two in a game not THREE!!

He informs me that he has eaten his chocolate teapot but is yet to decide where to hang his certificate – I suggested the loo.

I’ve been informed that Saturday’s quiz was again a success, with 19 teams taking part. It must have been an exciting finish since the winners were decided after a tiebreak. I’m not sure Harold Grouse enjoyed the evening since the microphone was not playing ball and he had to resort to shouting. Definitely not ideal with such a roomful of folks!

Lin Brighty is hoping that the same thing doesn’t happen next month when she is due to deliver Chris Carter’s quiz🤞.

We’ve now had three weeks of the trial of two sets on a Monday morning. As far as I was aware this morning, it went relatively smoothly.

It’s good to see that several of our summer outdoor members are combining the two. Well done. It must take a bit of adjusting.

I’m off to put my feet up after stripping and changing four beds when I returned from this morning’s game.

Take care,

Linda.
