Hello everyone,
Last week I announced the sad news that Dai Jones had died after a very short illness.
His funeral will be on Tuesday, 27th May at 11.00a.m. at Gloucester Crematorium followed by the wake at Barnwood BC.
Please note, family flowers only and smart, casual dress.
On a very much lighter note, thank you to all who responded to my plea to put your names forward to bowl on a Wednesday morning in the Australian Pairs. Together, we have managed to save this league which, of course means that this is good news financially for the club.
We now have sufficient players to field six teams. The restarted league will begin afresh on 14th May. A special thank you must go to the relatively new and therefore inexperienced bowlers who’ve agreed to play. To the experienced players, please be patient and help where you can. Remember, we all were beginners at one time.
This format is valuable practice since you have to play both lead and skip. All will become clear once you start.
I’d like to remind you that Sue Bolton and Kath are making a concerted effort to lose 20 kg each (I think). Their progress chart is up on the notice board opposite reception. If you’d like to donate, there is a sheet alongside on which to write your name and your sponsorship amount. The money is all in aid of club funds.
The next quiz will be on Saturday, 17th May. Chris Carter has devised the quiz and Lin Brighty will deliver it. I’m sure it will prove to be another enjoyable evening.
Until the next time, take care.
Linda.
Linda Watkin-Jones.
