Hello again,
I’ve just returned from a week-end away in Guildford with my daughter and granddaughters. She is an artist and was exhibiting at a Christmas Fayre at Silent Pool Gin Distillery. Since her husband is away in Valencia this week, I was looking after the girls. The alternative was to take them with her. Thank goodness I went. It was SO cold (Kate was in a gazebo outside from 8.00a.m. to 5.30 p.m.!). She was well wrapped up but still blue when she got back. Thankfully, it proved to be a very good day for her.
It was the last of the initial round of the Saturday mixed interclub on Saturday when MidGlos came out on top over Barnwood and Cheltenham Town beat Cheltenham Spa.
In two weeks, on 16th December at 10.00 a.m. MidGlos and Barnwood will be playing the final for 1st and 2nd places while Cheltenham and Cheltenham Spa will be fighting it out for 3rd and 4th places. These games will be played in whites over 16 ends.
I’m not sure if there was a final score in the friendly last week against Newport since it had been agreed that there would be seven rinks. However, Newport arrived with sufficient players for three rinks and three additional players – not ideal as they hadn’t informed our captain Ken. We hope this never happens again as it caused problems on the day which, thankfully, have now been sorted out.
On Sunday morning, the Wessex A team was playing Chipping Norton home and away while the B team was against Fairford home and away. The A team won and play Cotswold B on 17th December. Unfortunately the B team came second and they will be playing Cotswold A on 17th.
In the afternoon, MidGlos was playing Bristol at home in the last friendly before Christmas. The next one is away at Malvern IBC at 2.00p.m. on Saturday, 6th January, please sign up to play if you can.
I announced the death of John White last week. The details of the funeral arrangements are Thursday 14th December at 1.30pm at Gloucester Crematorium.
Finally, don’t forget to sign up for the Christmas raffle … details are at reception.
As usual, take care and keep warm. Although it’s warmed up a little, it’s by no means tropical.
Linda
