Newsletter Issue 17

Hello again,

First of all, a huge “thank you” to those of you who responded to my plea for more volunteers to man the office. A number of people came forward with their names offering different times when they could assist. After tomorrow, I’ll know if I have to go on my knees again or if we have enough bodies.

On Friday we shall be having our first GMC meeting (both the directors and bowling committee). There are several items on the agenda, one of which is the heating and air-conditioning system. We have had a quote from two different companies who specialise in such matters.

By the end of the meeting, we hope to have a decision on the better option. In the future, we are hoping to work more closely with the bowls committee since we are, after all, a bowling club.

Each director has a specific area of responsibility and we have each been asked to focus on, and bring to the meeting, just two key objectives for the future. Our overall goal is to “grow” the club in as many ways as possible. The next newsletter will have the results of the meeting.

I mentioned in the last newsletter that the membership for the coming year is looking healthy so far. I was at the club on Tuesday and, on that day alone, three new members signed and paid up, two of whom were as a result of our new website. I hope that you are keeping an eye on it since Steve Knight is updating it
regularly.

The first catch-up draw of the 200 club for March took place this morning. Angela and Kath used the electronic machine which we use for the raffles to draw the numbers. Over the next seven weeks a weekly draw will take place on Wednesday and published in the newsletter on the Thursday for each of the
months missed due to Covid.

The results for March are:
1st prize of £50.00 – Kay Scase
2nd prize of £20.00 – Terry Barham
3rd prize of £10.00 – Sheila Kingswell
The snowball prize of £50.00 – Maryann Pye.

Congratulations to all our winners.

The snowball will be £50.00 each week for the missed months i.e. no roll overs.

More next time.

In the meantime, stay safe and enjoy your bowling.
Linda
