Hello everyone,
Just back from a lovely few days in Pembrokeshire. We were expecting really iffy weather but, in fact, it was beautiful apart from one morning when we had Welsh rain! By the end of the first day I looked like the rising sun but fortunately that subsided and I am now just nicely tanned!
There is one slight amendment I need to make to the information in the last newsletter about substitution of players to make up a team. If a team is one short, they can recruit anyone to make up the shortfall but, if that person is not a registered team member, it has to be with the agreement of the opposing skip/captain.
Steve Bluck, our League Secretary, has put in a plea for another team to be entered on Monday afternoons due to the withdrawal of “Woodlanders”.
This league will no longer be viable with the present number of teams which would mean a loss of bowling opportunity and valuable income for the club. We cannot afford to lose any revenue. Please, if you are considering entering a new team, give Monday afternoon a thought.
Joyce Nash’s daughter has now given the funeral arrangements for Joyce. It will be a private cremation attended by the family only but afterwards there will be a celebration of her life at St. Barnabas Church, Stroud Road, Gloucester GL1 5LJ on Friday, 27th August at 12.30p.m.
Sandy Kerr’s name has been put forward as a worthy entrant for New Coach of the Year. Please place your vote, it’s really easy to do and he definitely deserves it.
Voting closes on 18th August. The winner will be announced on 28th August at Bowls England National Finals at Royal Leamington Spa. Fingers crossed for Sandy.
I hope I’ve remembered everything.
Take care,
Linda.
