Hello,
First of all, if you made a note of the dates for the bingo sessions, please scrub them. There are a few clashes with friendlies. No problem, the bingo dates can easily be amended and will be announced soon.
PLEASE NOTE
Kath has a lot of admin work to do this week. PLEASE respect the DO NOT DISTURB notice on the office door. If you have a question, please address it to whoever is on the desk at reception.
Thank you.
We are still short of volunteers to man the office on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. On both Monday and Tuesday, another person is needed to cover every other week, whilst on Thursday, there is no one at the moment, so we need two people to alternate the weeks. To date, the persons covering Monday and Tuesday evenings are having to do each week.
As for Thursday evenings, our regular volunteers are sharing it out between them – not ideal. Training will be given, of course, and it will necessitate locking up the club too (Again, training will be given). Someone who is playing that evening will always stay behind so that you are not alone shutting up.
Two national team competitions took place yesterday – the ladies were playing the Yetton and the men the Denny. Both teams were playing Malvern, two rinks at home and two away.
I’m pleased to announce that the ladies won 80/51 and the men 97/54. This means that we both go through to compete in the Yetton Trophy and the Denny Cup respectively. Had we lost, we would have been competing for the Plate in each. Thank you to Janet White and Roger Fry for liaising on the scores home and away.
Today, two rinks were at home and two away competing in the Egham (two ladies and two men on each rink) against Carterton. I’m pleased to report that we had a great win and go on to play against Cotswold in a fortnight.
Next Saturday, the U30s are playing in a double rink at 10.00 a.m. and in the afternoon, a friendly against Gloucester at home starts at 2.00 p.m.
The next friendly is on 16th November away to Welford.
LATE NEWS
I was just about to send this when I received a call from Roger Fry to say that the closing date for competition entries has been put back to 24th November. This is mainly because entries into the ladies’ competitions are very low. Come on ladies, have a go! Put your names down! Now that there’s a little breathing space, maybe more men will enter too, since there is definitely room for more names.
Until next time, take care,
Linda.
Linda Watkin-Jones.
