Hello from a very soggy Chedworth,

The Table Top Sale yesterday was well-advertised in various places and the take up of the tables was very good. However, Amanda and David were disappointed by the lack of support from the club members.

The idea was to raise money for the club, which it did – a little over £200.00. Both David and Amanda put a lot of time and effort into the event, before, during and after. It’s such a shame that more of our members didn’t find a little time to support the event. After all, it was raising money for our club.

Amanda, as social secretary has stated that she will ‘give it a go’ for six months and, if she doesn’t get the support, then she’s not going to ‘flog a dead horse’. She is open to ideas for social events. If you have any suggestions, please write them on the sheet provided opposite reception.

Bingo is taking place this Sunday, 26th October 3.00 to 5.00p.m. £1.00 a strip with cash prizes. Please support if you can.And don’t forget to buy your tickets for ‘The Cherry Reds’ on 29th November with chicken and chips in a basket. Tickets are selling fast. It promises to be a good do.

David and Amanda must have been shattered by the end of yesterday since they were hosting the monthly quiz in the evening. As usual, it was very well attended with some different rounds some of which really taxed the memory which is not a bad thing, of course.

Next month Steve Bluck will be our quizmaster.

We now have a table tennis table in the Cooper Suite. Since it folds away easily, it doesn’t put any pressure on the other uses for that room. We have some excellent players already within the club – Steve Hancock, Alan Williams, Stan Lister, Vince Wilks to name just a few. Why not challenge them for a game? I’m sure they’d be up for it. Alan was also a coach so there are no excuses for not giving it a try!

This coming Wednesday, 22nd October sees the first of the friendly games at home to GCIBA at 2.00p.m. Six rinks are being used with a two course meal afterwards.

On Saturday, 25th October the first Wessex game (MidGlos A v MidGlos B) is taking place at 10.00a.m. and in the afternoon there is a friendly away to Bristol at 2.00p.m.The next stage of Top Club is on Sunday, 26th October against Carterton at home thankfully, otherwise it would have been a long day away since all five games could not physically play at the same time on just two rinks!

So, there’s lots coming up. If you’re not involved, why not come along to support? Watching can be almost as exciting as playing!

Until next week, take care, keep dry,

Linda.
