Newsletter Issue 259

Hello again,

By the time the newsletter is out we’ll be either on our way to Potters or there. Just four of us are joining the Nottingham group to play in a mid-week tournament.

So, we’ll miss the first week of the new season. What a shame but I look forward to seeing all the familiar faces the following week.

The observant ones will have noticed that we have two new banners up on the scoreboard wall. Tivoli Legal in conjunction with Renaissance Finance are our new sponsors. As the banners state, they are Cheltenham’s most trusted equity release specialist. In order to learn more about their business, sign up to the November quiz when they will be at the club to explain more.

CALLING ALL LADIES – the lists will be going up on the ladies’ notice board for the Mason and Yetton competitions. The Mason is played on a Friday morning. Players must be 60 or over. The Yetton in played on a Saturday morning and is open to all ages.
These are national competitions. Please add your name if you’d like to be considered by the selection committee. We’re always looking for keen players.

The club will be open on Sunday mornings starting this Sunday, 5th October. It will be open form 9.00 until 12.00 unless nationals are being played when it will be open until 1.00p.m. Please book a rink.

Our open weekend proved to be very successful again. Thank you to all who gave up their time to help in whatever way and thank you to the bakers. The cakes went down very well.
We had a total of 42 people attending over the two days.
29 people have signed up for coaching and 5 have taken membership forms.

Bev Sayers is putting his name forward for the board. He is trying to recruit other willing bodies. So, if he approaches you, this is why.
Without a board, there is no club. The roles required are:

  • Office services
  • Maintenance
  • Health and Safety
  • Catering
  • Finance
  • Marketing and PR
  • Chairman

N.B. The chairman is chosen by the rest of the committee on the night of the AGM.
Good luck, Bev.

That’s all for this week. See you in a week.

Take care,

Linda. Linda Watkin-Jones.
Director (PR & Marketing)
