Hello,
Congratulations to Vince Wilks, Clive Shaw and Fin Williamson, who have reached the last eight of the Summer Indoor National Open Trips. This match is to be played on Friday, 19th September at Melton Mowbray, and Fin is playing his singles match on Sunday 21st at the same venue. Good luck to all three!
Do I really have to play that Champion of Champions game against Fin?!!!
Greg Harlow has now confirmed that Potters are no longer doing the roadshows. Instead, they are offering that, if you go on their website, the individual will get a 5% reduction as well as our club – a win, win situation! We are expecting a poster from Potters giving all the details.
During the summer season, Bev Sayers has been running an umbrella for our newer members on a Thursday morning. He will be doing the same during the winter season but, on a Thursday afternoon instead at 1.30p.m. In addition, Tony Letts is offering the same, open to anyone who needs extra help as well, on a Monday afternoon, 1.30p.m.
The usual coaching sessions will be offered on Thursday afternoons too. Since we have a number of coaches now, Dave Giles is hoping to set up a rota so that it is shared out between the coaches.
Several people have agreed to open and close the club on a Sunday morning in the winter season. This is for competition and national matches to be played but, if there is sufficient interest, there would be three rinks available for a Sunday league – maximum of six teams. If you can form a team, create a name and let reception know. The first six teams will be in so it is on a first come, first served basis.
There are lots of ideas in the melting pot for extra social activities to be offered. Things suggested are bingo, crib, poker, beginners’ bridge, yoga sessions, etc. All of these things rely on support from you. We want to make more use of the Cooper Suite, too. If you have any ideas, please come forward.
In the near future, you will see two banners displayed on the score board end wall advertising our sponsor, Tivoli Legal, a very well-respected conveyancing and equity release legal business in Cheltenham.
I hope I’ve covered everything. Until next week, take care,
Linda.
