Newsletter Issue 255

Hello,

September already! Having had weeks of heat and unbroken sunshine, there’s definitely an autumnal feel to the weather now. This year, for once, we can’t complain that we’ve had no summer.

At the AGM, it was announced that rink fees would be increasing to £5.00 in September. So, today will be the first day when the increase comes into force. As explained at the AGM we have to do this since our monthly costs have increased, as I’m sure all of you will recognise from your own domestic cost increases.

I mentioned last week that a few of us were getting together with Amanda Hanks to put our heads together and come up with ideas to swell the social side of the club and also to make more use of the pretty much sound-proofed Cooper Suite. Any ideas you have for either or both of these will be gratefully received. Of course the success of social events relies on the support of our members, both full and social. Let’s work together to make Amanda’s role a huge success!

Despite Kath’s efforts, Friday afternoon cannot be saved. I’m not sure if this means that the club will be closed on Friday afternoons or open for roll-ups, etc. When I know, I’ll let you know.

The next quiz is on Saturday, 20th September. If you’re willing to help out in any way on these evenings, please put your name forward to help putting out chairs, selling raffle tickets, collecting answer papers, putting out food, washing up, clearing up, helping in the bar or even compiling a quiz, although we do have quite a variety of quizmasters now.

Soon, I’ll be asking for volunteers to help in various ways with the open week-end. Please mention it to whoever you think may be interested.

As you know, Kath is away this week but the newsletter will be on the website.

Until next week, take care,

Linda.
