Hello everyone,

What a very successful week-end for MidGlos! The Denny and the Yetton were being played on Saturday morning against Malvern – two rinks at home and two rinks away for both. It was an arduous journey for MidGlos and Malvern players playing away because of the tragedy on M5 where a young man had either fallen or jumped from a bridge. As a result, the motorway was closed, as was A40 (for some undisclosed reason).

This of course clogged all of the other roads. However, everyone arrived and got home safely which was the main thing. I think the plan was for a small or large alcoholic beverage at the end! Both the men and ladies are through to the next round to be played on Saturday, 16th November at 10.00a.m.

This morning, we were playing the Egham, again two rinks at home and two away and again against Malvern. Another win for us so we go on to play Avon Valley on Sunday, 17th November. Another busy week-end!

Spectators are always welcome. One or two turned up on both days. Thank you to those who did. It’s always nice to see some friendly faces willing us on.

This coming Saturday, 9th November is the next friendly against Gloucester IBC at 2.00p.m.

On Sunday, 10th November, it is the second round of Top Club at 10.00a.m. against Bromsgrove at home. Again, spectators are welcome.

Currently, there are seven club shirts out on loan from our sample stock. Two only of those seven people have ordered shirts. It is expected that, if you play in the national competitions, you buy your own shirt. The sample shirts are just that. They are for people wishing to buy to try on for size. If you have borrowed a shirt, please make sure that it is washed before returning. Thank you.

When we first begin bowling, we are not sure which size or make of wood suits us best. While you are deciding, it is fine to use the club woods. However, after a few weeks, it is again expected that you buy your own, be it brand new or second hand, whichever suits your budget. The club woods are for coaching purposes.

We are still without a Club Secretary. The next Bowls Committee meeting is on 14th November. If you are familiar with notetaking or would be prepared to give it a go, please get in touch with reception.

I hope I’ve remembered everything – just a bit tired after two days of competitions. It was very enjoyable though, especially since we came out on top.

Until next week, take care,

Linda.
