Newsletter Issue 205

Hello again,

And it’s still sunny!

We wish all of our members who are playing in the finals in Leamington the best of luck. I’ve been told that Dylan and Fin Williamson are playing on Wednesday morning and that it is being streamed from 9.15 on the Bowls England website. Go for it, lads.

The date for the representative from Potters to bring the shop to us is now confirmed for Thursday, 26th September from 10.00a.m. until 3.00p.m. Remember, it’s for anybody – not just our members. Pass the information on to anyone who may be interested.

The tickets for the magician’s evening on 2nd November are now available at reception. It is for a very good cause. Many of our members will have been affected by or known someone who has been affected by bowel cancer. Please be aware of the symptoms – there are posters highlighting such in both the ladies’ and gents’ loos. If you experience any of them, do not ignore it. Seek advice. The sooner these things are caught, the better. Try to support this event so that we can raise as much as possible to do our bit to help.

There are still a few positions to fill in the office:

Monday afternoon 1.00 – 3.30 to buddy with Sheila Kingswell
Monday afternoon 3.30 – 6.00 to buddy with Fred Croxton
Tuesday evening 6.30 – close (9.30ish) to buddy with Richard Eeles
Thursday evening 6.30 – close (9.30ish) to buddy with Mark Tester

Buddying means that you wouldn’t be with that person but that you would both do every other week.

Angela Holbrook has stepped in to do all of the other evenings and, if nobody else volunteers, she would be doing every evening. That is too much of a commitment for one person. Please help out if you can.

Finally, is there anyone with plumbing skills in the club? There are a few outstanding issues to be addressed. If you can help, please let reception know.
Thank you.

If there are any captains struggling for players, let me know and I’ll put out a plea. It worked for Pam Margrett’s team of Golden Girls on Friday afternoons. She’s changed the name because it’s now not all lady players. That was easier than the men having to transition!

If your team is filled and, if you find a place in a team, please update the board in the foyer.

The new season starts in three weeks on 16th September. I’m really looking forward to welcoming back all our members who bowl outdoors in the summer (not that we’ve had great weather this year).

Linda
