Hello again, I can’t believe it’s still sunny. I’m loving it but I’m not sure everyone feels the same way. It was definitely sunny and hot when we played our friendly against Cheltenham B C at Suffolk Square last Monday afternoon. We did lose but by just 10 shots – 67/77 which was very respectable considering that only one of our players is an outdoor bowler! The game was played in a very friendly manner and I certainly enjoyed it. It’s not something I’d want to do on a regular basis because, despite it being a fast green, we were told, it was still a push. However, provided it’s dry, I’d certainly do it again. Many thanks to the Suffolk Square members for their welcome and the use of their facilities. Anyone wishing to try indoors at MidGlos would be very welcome. Our open week-end is coming up soon on 28th and 29th September as posted below: Geoff Underhill has put out a plea for more teams to enter the Australian Pairs league on Wednesday mornings: AUSTRALIAN PAIRS Dear Member, You are nearly there, you’ve made the difference, just one more thing left to do! We now have four teams in on a Wednesday Morning for the Australian Pairs, but we need more……….. please try your hardest to find three other people to play with and enter your teams name in the registration file, on the reception desk. This is a fantastic opportunity to play something a little bit different in bowls and it would be even more fantastic if we had a few more teams to play against. If you have any questions or would like any more information please contact Geoff Underhill on 07833364679 or email geoff.classic@btinternet.com. Bonza y’all It really is good practice. I would join if I weren’t already playing in a fours team at the same time. You have plenty of time to get the next date on your calendar: He comes very well recommended and it’s all in aid of the fight against bowel cancer. Please try to support the event. On the morning of Wednesday, 4th September, the whole club is booked out for coaching. Dave Giles has some people booked in and 20 people from my choir are coming to give it a go. Maybe some will be hooked as I was after my first session of crown green bowling. I knew I’d forget something in the last newsletter – it was to remind people of the quiz last evening. It was Sheila’s quiz which was well-attended and enjoyable as usual with a couple of different rounds. A lot of work goes into these evenings and it is good to see them so well-attended. The next one is on 21st September when Fred Croxton and Harold Grouse will be in control along with some invaluable helpers. If you hear of any news from Leamington, please let me know and I’ll sing the praises here. Until next time, take care. Linda Linda Watkin-Jones. Director (PR & Marketing). |
