Hello again, Yet another musical performance for Fred and me. This time in The Brewery Quarter in Cheltenham Sunday afternoon in the heat! We had some lovely feedback afterwards which does make it all worthwhile. Our charity this year is “Mind”. So far, we have raised over £12,500 and hope to reach our target of £15,000. Since I don’t play outdoors in the summer, I rely on folks keeping me updated of what our players are doing. Anne Hesling sent the following photo of the “Burke girls” with a write up. The girls won the all-day ladies’ fund triples competition at Gloucester City last week-end. Emily has also won the ladies’ County u25s. Erin and Hatty won the County u25s Pairs having beaten Emily and her partner. Well done girls! I hope there were no fisty-cuffs in the Burke household! The team sheet for the “friendly” away against Cheltenham BC on Monday, 12th August at 2.00p.m. is up on the notice board. Please tick your name if you are still available. I have two reserves but I could do with a couple more, please. No need to worry about the weather – I’ve been assured that it will be perfect conditions for play!!!🤞 As mentioned last week, it is now time for the winter team captains to enter their teams for the coming season. Steve Bluck needs the information as soon as possible so that he can work on the schedule. The red file is on the desk at reception awaiting your confirmation of entry. New teams are always welcome. Talking of new teams, after fair warning, the new team of “Age Concern” didn’t echo their success of the previous week but they did put up a fight. The score did not reflect the game which was played in a lovely friendly manner. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Until next time, which won’t be next week since we are away, take care, Linda Linda Watkin-Jones. Director (PR & Marketing). |
