Good news!

We are still permitted to bowl in our Covid secure environment!

However, we are now restricted to trips only from today, Thursday. It could have been so much worse! The EIBA could have decided to cancel all bowling. BUT they haven’t – thank goodness! My only option for a winter with no bowling would have been to slit my wrists!

Steve Bluck, our league Secretary, is in the process of contacting all rinks captains to organise their teams into trips as from this evening. If you were down to play this evening, please check the changes beforehand.

Since table service only is allowed in bars, the bar will remain closed but the chiller cabinets are and will be well-stocked regularly.

Please check the masks signs which are displayed at the club. Unless you have a reason for not wearing one, they must be worn on entering the club, at the lockers, in the lounge area unless drinking and on leaving. Incidentally, you cannot challenge anyone who is not wearing one as per the government guidelines.

We must stress the two metre rule. This has to be adhered to. Should we be checked by the authorities, if we are not doing so, we could be fined a hefty fine or closed down on the spot. We are all responsible for following this rule and all the others and for gently reminding others should they fall short of complying. Everyone, by virtue of the fact that they are bowling at the club, has agreed to follow the Covid Secure Code.

The EIBA also insists that there is no interaction between adjacent rinks. When seated at tables in the lounge, the rule of six applies. No mingling with other tables. This all sounds draconian but, if it means that we can still pursue our great sport, then so be it.

Apologies for all the rules but we’ll still continue to enjoy our bowling.
