Hello everyone,
I was beginning to think that I’d scuppered the summer by mentioning the winter season in the last newsletter. However, the sun has reappeared this morning (Sunday). Let’s hope it stays for a few weeks (I love the warm weather).
Talking about the winter season. Bright Sparks on a Tuesday afternoon is looking for more players. There are only six teams in this league and, to lose one, would mean that the league would have to fold. Please get in touch with Steve Bluck at sdbluck@sky.com if you would like to join the team.
The 200 Club draw was made on Friday evening by Steve Bluck in Sheila Kingswell’s absence (she’s still in Canada).
1st prize of £50.00 – Barbara Clarke
2nd prize of £20.00 – Brian Workman
3rd prize of £10.00 – Maggie Geoghegan
The snowball rolls over because Howard’s number came up. He was there for a meeting at 6.30, had to go to pick up our grandson from Cheltenham and take him home and was back at the club for another meeting at 8.30 but he wasn’t there for the actual draw. Rules are rules. We just haven’t told our grandson he owes us £50.00!!
Well, the sample new club shirt arrived! Nobody likes it including the people who originally chose it. When made up, it was nothing like it should have been. So, it was back to the drawing board. Kath had a “play” with lots of designs which we’ve narrowed down to three. We would like your opinion on which one you would prefer. Just post your choice on the comments section of the newsletter, e-mail the club or telephone the office with your choice of 1,2 or 3. Hopefully, we’ll come out with a clear winner. There will be a choice of short or long sleeve when you come to place an order.

The new shirt is not compulsory but, when you come to buy a new shirt, this will be the one to represent the club. When the outdoor bowlers return, can I remind you that it is not acceptable to wear your outdoor club shirt at MidGlos unless playing in the inter club matches when you are indeed representing your outdoor club. As has always been the case, you may wear any predominantly white bowling shirt with a collar to play in league games.
As of last Friday, the Gloster Knights have ceased to be as a club and team. If you weren’t aware, they were the short matters who practised on a Tuesday evening and played matches on a Friday evening at our club.
Don’t forget that there are four rinks available on Tuesday evenings to be filled by pairs teams. Get in touch with Steve Bluck if you’re willing to captain a team of ideally four.
Here’s hoping the warmer weather returns.
Take care,
Linda
