Happy New Year! Let’s hope it’s a good one for all of us.

I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve. Mine was spent in much the same way as Christmas – suffering from some sort of quite nasty virus (not Covid). At least I stayed awake!

On my twenty-first (not that long ago!), I had ‘flu. I could not even lift my head off the pillow and, since then, I’ve always said that if you can walk around, you have not got ‘flu, just a heavy cold. However, I think that this is ‘flu but, since I’ve had the jab, it is nowhere near as bad as it was last time. Still not a walk in the park though. I am on the mend but everything is an effort.

I went for a roll-up yesterday (after nearly two weeks, I can’t still be infectious) and heard that one of our members has already given up his New Year’s resolution because … no one likes a skinny tea-totaller!

This Saturday, the Denny Plate is being played on a neutral green as mentioned last week and, on Sunday Wessex B is playing Cotswold B while Wessex A is playing Fairford.

The Wednesday evening Interclub resumes on 11th January with MidGlos playing Bishop’s Cleeve. On Saturday 14th January the last of the round robin matches of the Saturday Interclub is being played, postponed from 17th December due to snow and ice. Also on 14th is the next quiz.

On 15th January, three more players are needed for the friendly away at Newport. Please, either put your name on the list or let reception know that you’d like to play.

The Saturday Interclub finals will be played on 21st January when the results of first, second, third and fourth places will be decided. That night, we are celebrating Burns Night with some sort of bowling and haggis baps (there will be an alternative).

As usual, take care, keep warm and look after yourselves,

Linda
