Hello all,
Once again there is some sad news. Those of you who’ve been into the club this week will have seen that Shirley Cromie has died after a short illness. Another shock since she was always so spritely and, like Hugh, she’d been playing outdoors all summer.
For many years she was the club coach and was still part of the present coaching team. Many of you will have begun your bowling career by being coached by Shirley. She will be missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts are with Colin Carter and Shirley’s family.
The first friendly was played on Saturday between MidGlos and Dowty where we came out on top. Well done to all who took part.
Sadly, the Egham didn’t go quite so well for us on Sunday. Both away rinks lost as well as one home rink. Thank you to all who played.
The next big games are on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10.00a.m. on both days. The ladies are playing the Yetton against Cotswold on Saturday and the next round of Top Club is on Sunday against Bristol.
The club will be open on both days while these games are being played. Why not book a rink or just come along to support? Apart from the Wessex A team taking advantage of the club being open the first two week-ends in October, the take-up was pretty poor. In order to be able to open at week-ends (apart from when other games are going on) it has to be financially viable.
On Wednesday evening, the first Interclub match is against Cheltenham Spa. Again, support will be welcomed.
Please, no more bad news.
Take care.
Linda.

A very sad couple of weeks to lose two very important members of the Club both have given so much time to look after the Club and its members through out their long membership.
Shirley played for a number of years for my Tuesday evening team and it was only this winter that she decided not to play on Tuesday evening, so we were already missing her before she sadly passed away
Condolences to her Daughter and family.
RIP Shirley
Apologies to the gentlemen! The Denny is also being played on Saturday.
These two games will take up four rinks so there are three still available to book. Get in early if you wish have a roll-up or play a game between friends.
