Happy belated St. David’s Day,

First things first – the friendly at home against Newport last week. Unfortunately we didn’t quite manage to get our own back, missing out by just one shot – 82-83. Newport players were late arriving due to the Prince of Wales bridge being closed because of an accident.

Cath would like to thank Colin Carter and Rona Partridge for helping out because of the transport issues and the rest of the team for their patience.

Whilst on the subject of friendlies, MidGlos came 2nd to Cotswold – 91-116 yesterday.

The next friendly is this Friday at 1.30pm against the Devon men’s tour. On Sunday, MidGlos plays GVPBA beginning at 2.30pm.

At least 8 players are still needed for the game against Kent ladies in the afternoon of Tuesday, 17th March.

The Tony Allcock match is not a friendly (far from it!). It’s men against ladies playing for a trophy which the men hold at the moment. A minimum of 10 more ladies are needed please. Come on ladies! We need you! We want to get our hands on that trophy again!

The Wessex A team had a busy week-end playing Chipping Norton on Saturday and Fairford today. After yesterday’s match MidGlos were through to the last 16 beating Chipping Norton 15-1 points. Today was the icing on the cake when they won on all four rinks against Fairford. Special thanks must go to those members who agreed to play for the A team due to reduced numbers of the regular players. Not only did they play but they contributed really well. No excuses next year for not putting your names down.

Sadly, the B team came second. Well done to one of the home rinks who managed a two shot win on the last end. A very close match.

Next Sunday the last 16 match will be played but the opponents are yet to be announced. Look out for the team sheet on the men’s competition notice board.

Names are slowly being added to the AGM notice board. We’re still lacking quite a few, though. Please sign up.

One of the perks of this job (come to think of it, it’s the only one) is that I can appeal for players for my teams. I need two or three more for my Tuesday summer teams, please. Either see me if you can help out or let reception know. Thank you.

That’s all for now. Take care,

Linda.
