Hello everyone,
Both Wessex teams were playing today home and away. The A team was playing Cotswold A while our B team was against Carterton. At the same time our U18 County team was playing Somerset (one rink at home and one away).
It was a very close-run match for the A team who narrowly won while the B team came second.
Our U18 team won decisively both at home and away. They are now through to the National Finals at Nottingham. Well done team!
At home the team was:
Jack Speller
Erin Burke
Josh Hodges
while the away team was:
Hattie Burke
Louie Hodges
Dylan Williamson
Unfortunately I have a photo of the home team only.

Really well done to all six players and the best of luck in Nottingham. Bring that huge cup back again!
In two weeks’ time our U25s are competing to get to Nottingham. I know you’ll all do your best.
The annual Tony Alcock game (men v ladies) this year is on Saturday, 14th March. Two sheets are up on the white board opposite reception. Please sign up if you’d like to play.
Some years ago there was a County Ladies’ team but it folded due to a lack of players. The men have continued but they are now struggling for players. It has been suggested that, if there were enough interest, a mixed team could be formed. Please see Ken Manns if you are an interested lady (alternatively, let reception know and the information can be passed on).
We have interested parties for both the ladies’ captain and competitions secretary positions.
Although Chris Frusher is happy to continue cooking, we still need someone to take on the role of Catering Manager. This entails buying the ingredients, helping with the preparation and cooking and sourcing the volunteers. Please give it some thought.
May I remind you again that the present Board is stepping down at the AGM and, at that point, the new Board takes over. The sign up sheets will soon appear on an A board.
As the Wessex games were finishing, more Cotswold players appeared to play in the friendly this afternoon. The final score was:
MidGlos 90, Cotswold 99. A close game. Three rinks managed a win but two were very unfortunate to have been drawn against a strong Cotswold side (two of them had played against us this morning and both on the same rink). There is a return fixture on 28th. Newport away next Sunday.
Coming up this week, we have crib on Tuesday evening and
bingo on Saturday afternoon, 3.00 – 5.00p.m.
We have received an email from Paige Bentley who is a Casting Researcher at Bright Entertainment (ITV Studios).
They are currently casting for a brand new show about childhood sweethearts. If you fit the bill and think you may be interested, please get in touch with Paige at:
