Hello again,
First of all, let me remind you that it really is time to think seriously about the future. The AGM is on Wednesday, 22nd April. That is the evening when the present Board members step down. Most of us have served six years. It is time for others to take over. The sheets will be going up soon with the vacancies and spaces to put your name forward with a proposer and seconder.
We have done our very best to protect the financial stability of the club and have tried to move things forward. We sincerely hope that our successors will endeavour to do the same.
By the same token, things are changing in the bowls committee. Both Gill and Roger Fry are stepping down from their roles so leaving vacancies for Ladies’ Captain and Competitions Secretary and Jill Whiting will no longer be Catering Manager. Guidance for these roles will be given by Gill and Roger Fry and Jill Whiting. The same goes for the Board positions, of course.
Without these very important positions being filled, we cannot continue as a club. BUT hopefully this won’t happen. We just need folks to step up.
Graham Whiting has been informed by our suppliers that all of the bar prices will be increasing shortly due to the forthcoming tax rises. Like every hospitality venue, we cannot escape the rises.
The club competitions are well under way. This week in particular has seen a few surprising results. If you’ve entered a competition or competitions, please make sure you play your matches before the very last date.
Yesterday afternoon, MidGlos was at home to Welford. I don’t know the exact score. Suffice to say, MidGlos came out on top.
Next Sunday, MidGlos is at home to Cotswold IBC.
Also next Sunday, 8th, Wessex A is playing Cotswold A while Wessex B is against Carterton. Both matches begin at 10.00 a.m. – 2 rinks at home and 2 away. Good luck, guys.
I think that concludes this week’s news.
Take care everyone,
Linda.
Linda Watkin-Jones.
Director (PR & Marketing)
