Newsletter Issue 301             26/10/2026

Hello everyone,

Did you spot the deliberate error last time? It was ‘bop’.  Look out for this issue’s deliberate error.

Let’s go.

BOWLS STUFF

Open weekend:

This proved to be a great success with 47 visitors of whom 28 have requested free coaching lessons. Huge thanks to Dave and Liz Giles for their efforts and to those members and volunteers to gave their support. It is much appreciated.

Denny Cup:

Well done to our men’s team who have made a strong start to the season with an 85/64 win over Carterton.

Yetton Trophy:

Ladies, please sign up for the Yetton trophy, first match Saturday 31st October.

Youth Bowls:

Congratulations to Erin Burke, Dylan Williamson, Jack Speller and Louie Hodges who have progressed through from the trials to the England squad day.

Your locker?

The sorting out of lockers has now been completed and we’re left with the contents of 15 lockers for which we haven’t been able to identify the owners. At the end of October these “owners unknown” items will be disposed of so please CHECK IF THEY BELONG TO YOU. If they do please tell reception so that we can update our records and you can retrieve your possessions (they’ve been moved to different lockers).

The locker numbers are: 35, 52, 68, 69, 83, 95, 241, 295, 305, 306, 383, 386, 392, 461 and 466.

Unclaimed bowls (currently 14 sets), carriers and shoes will be given to David Giles to be used for coaching or to be offered up for sale.

BOARD STUFF

Urgent:

The need for more volunteers, especially for Reception,  has now become critical. In particular, we may have to close the club on Thursday evenings because there is nobody to look after Reception. If you play on Thursday evenings, please consider offering to help when your team don’t require you. Full training will be given. Let Liz or the office know if you can help.
