Hello again,
Some relatively old news first – Nathan Kitchen reached the final of the Open Singles, having beaten Tom Evans in the semi-final. Unfortunately, Nathan was beaten by Martin Puckett. However, congratulations for getting to the final rounds to both Tom and Nathan.
Last Sunday’s friendly against Bristol proved to be another win for MidGlos. Well done. Let’s hope we can keep it up.
On Friday morning, the ladies were competing in the Mason Trophy against Cotswold. It was a nail-biting finish. The away team finished before the home team, but we had to wait until the home team had finished before we knew the final outcome. Had an extra end had to be played because of a draw, it was down to the away team to play it. Thankfully, we managed to win by just 3 shots. We now go on to play Malvern (who beat GL1) in the 3rd round on 2nd January.
Saturday was a different matter – we lost heavily to Solihull in the 3rd round of the Yetton. They will now go to play the area final on 3rd January.
Thankfully, the men achieved a better outcome in the Denny Cup against Welford, so they will go on to play the area final on 3rd January. We wish them all the very best!
Coming up this weekend, on Saturday from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m., is the next session of Bingo. Please come along with a raffle prize and support Amanda and David, and the club.
The Christmas raffle table is heaving with gifts, but I’m sure we can squeeze a few more on if you’d still like to donate and don’t forget to buy a ticket or tickets in the hope of winning one of the prizes. Hattie Burke is desperate to win a particular item. I hope she’s successful.
I believe the tickets for the fun bowls and Christmas meal are selling well. If you’d like to attend, make sure you buy your ticket soon. Numbers are limited.
A final reminder about the closing date for the club competitions entries. Just two weeks left for you to make up your mind(s) – it is 19th December (which happens to be my birthday – I’ll be 40 and a bit!!! – no guesses for how big the bit is!)
That’s all for this week. Take care,
Linda.
