Newsletter Issue 252

Hello everyone,

I’ll start with the sad news. I’m afraid it’s rather short notice but Jan Gavaron’s funeral is at Gloucester Crem on Wednesday, 13th August at 1.00p.m. and afterwards at the Crematorium Tea Rooms. No flowers, please.

One of MidGlos IBC’s original members, Ken Smith died on Sunday, 3rd August 2025. Due to ill health, he hadn’t bowled for some years. I didn’t know him but I’m sure many of our more long-standing members will remember him. Our condolences to his family.

The better news is that Cath Black raised £357.00. Thank you to all who donated. Her hair has gone off to make a wig to make a cancer sufferer’s life more bearable.

Steve Bluck has asked me to remind you that the closing date for team entries for the forthcoming winter season is 24th August. Having looked in the book, entries for the afternoon sessions are looking thin on the ground. If you are considering entering a team, please consider the afternoons.

The next quiz is this coming Saturday, 16th August. Fred Croxton and I will not be able to attend since our choir, i-sing choirs is performing at Pershore Abbey in aid of prostate cancer. It is being live streamed with a link to donate should you wish to.

I think that’s all for this week. As usual, take care,

Linda.

Linda Watkin-Jones.
