| Hello for the last time this summer season! Just ONE WEEK to go! How exciting! I do like summer (if we have one) but I no longer dread winter because it now means – more bowling. Wonderful! A gentle reminder for our members returning from playing outdoors for the last few months. GRIPPO AND THE LIKE is strictly FORBIDDEN at the club either on your woods or your hands. It is really bad for the carpet. Incidentally, the carpet is being stretched on Wednesday so it should be running nicely for the beginning of the season. A heads up – Rich Shergold will be putting up two notices on the ladies’ competitions board for names for both the Egham and Top Club. These are just drafts at the moment but you’ll get the idea. He will be asking for names of those who want to play/be in the squad for these two national competitions.   8+ ladies are needed for the Egham and 5+ for the Top Club 18 members from “i-sing choirs” came to the club to try their hand at bowling on Wednesday morning. A huge “thank you” to Dave Giles, Dave Owen, Steve Hancock and Howard for helping out with coaching and making them all feel very welcome. They all thoroughly enjoyed the morning and some showed real promise. I’m going to advertise our open days on the “i-sing” WhatsApp site so we may get some takers particularly when they know there’s free cake, tea and coffee. As you know, our open days are on 28th and 29th September. We’re going to need quite a few volunteers, please. Both days are timed from 10.00 in the morning to 4.00 in the afternoon so we will be asking for people for two slots – between 10.00a.m. and 1.00p.m. and between 1.00a.m. and 4.00p.m. Dave and Liz Giles and Howard will be there all day both days and I will do half days on both days (we can’t leave the dog for two full days). The suggestion is that we’d need : 2 or 3 people on meet and greet 6 volunteers rinkside to help non-bowlers 2 or 3 people to serve tea/coffee and cake 1 person responsible to manage/co-ordinate the helpers So far, we have had a few offers of homemade cakes. If we need more, I’ll give a shout. Thank you in anticipation of your offers to me, anyone on the board ( Howard, Jill Whiting, Steve Hancock, Angela Holbrook, Paul Havard ), Kath or anyone on reception.
