Newsletter Issue 203

Hello again,

Today’s the day for the match at Suffolk Square between MidGlos IBC and Cheltenham BC at 2.00p.m. Supporters more than welcome. We’ll need it!! Whether you’re playing or spectating, be sure to be “sun-creamed up” with some sort of head protection if you’re “follically challenged”. I ordered dry weather but perhaps not quite as hot as is forecast.

Bryan White’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, 27th August at St. Peter’s Church, Leckhampton at 1.00p.m.

Please note that the date of the open day announced last week has CHANGED. It will now be an open week-end on 28th and 29th September, 10.00a.m. to 4.00p.m. Please put the date in your diary/on your phone/on your calendar/on your laptop or wherever. Look out for the posters which will soon appear in various strategic places, on Facebook and other social media sites. Encourage your fellow outdoor bowlers, friends, family, neighbours, work mates, etc. to come along and see what we’re about. Nearer the time, I’ll be appealing for volunteers to assist in different roles.

Thank you to the folks who’ve stepped up to fill the different vacancies cited last week. However, there are still a few places to be filled:

Monday 1.00p.m. – 3.30p.m. to buddy with Sheila Kingswell
3.30p.m. – 6.00p.m. to buddy with Fred Croxton

Duties would include taking rink fees, making rink bookings and taking telephone calls.
As you would be buddying, you would be on duty for two and a half hours once a fortnight.

Tuesday 6.00p.m. – Close (9.45p.m. approx.) to buddy with Richard Eeles.

Duties would include taking rink fees, making rink bookings, taking telephone calls and securing the building at the end of the day.
Again, this would be once a fortnight.

Wednesday 6.00p.m. – Close (9.45p.m.approx) to be a buddy for the Interclub Competitions.

Duties would include working behind the bar, taking rink fees, making rink bookings, taking telephone calls and securing the building at the end of the day.

As you would be buddying with someone, you would be on duty only once a fortnight. Please note, there are two vacancies here. The Interclub Comp. does not start straight away.

Full training will be given. You would not be left on your own until you felt completely comfortable.
If you’re interested or would like to know more, please contact Angela Holbrook on: [email protected]

A PLEA – Pam Margrett needs 3 more PLAYERS for her team of GOLDEN GIRLS on Fridays at 1.30p.m. Please note, you do not have to be female or identify as such!! Please contact Pam on: 07973 560598.

More success to shout about –
Iona Bird is through to play singles in the National Finals at Leamington this month and
Chris Prosser is to play in the pairs at Leamington.
Go girls! Super Well Done!

I’m sure there’s more success from our members who play outdoors in the summer. Let me know and I’ll shout about it here. We’re so proud of you!

Look out for a MidGlos listing in the November, December and January issues in the “Clubs” section of “The Pages”. The club pages are printed in the Cheltenham and Gloucester issues and hand-delivered to 72,000 homes by the Royal Mail.

More good news – our sound system has now been fixed (a much more involved job than I’d appreciated). When you hear the sound, I think you’ll agree that our previous system had been dying for a while.

As usual, I hope I’ve remembered everything.

Take care,

Linda
