Hello again,

I’m absolutely exhausted and I’ve got another week to go of Wimbledon! I’m busy decorating in the morning and then tennis in the afternoon. As far as meals are concerned, we have what I call Wimbledon food – quick and easy. I was decorating this morning with no idea of what we would be eating this evening when my daughter called and invited us to supper (cooked by her husband ‘cos she too is a tennis addict).

Back to the club – and firstly a big thank you to David Harris who, single-handedly planted the olive trees and brought in gravel to dress the top of the pots – much appreciated. The scaffolding is now down. We are hoping that the sound system will be up and running for the next quiz on 20th July. An expert has been in to look at our set-up and is hopefully on the case. Fingers crossed. Unfortunately, we will not be there since I’m singing in a concert at a lovely church in Bishops’ Cleeve to raise money for the charity, “Mind”.

Sadly, the cigarette butt box is back in operation since the great tit parents have abandoned the nest leaving just two unfertilised eggs behind.

Although it’s only the beginning of July, we need to be starting to think about the new season coming up. I look forward so much to welcoming back our outside summer players. We’ve had some new members joining during the summer who will certainly add to our teams. Please encourage your friends and neighbours to give bowling a try. Coaching is always available. Just let the office know and it will be arranged.

In the meantime, take care. Covid has raised his ugly head again. Look after yourselves,

Linda.

I have one place left for “Beyond the Barricade” on 2nd September at 7.30p.m. at £26.50 at The Everyman in Cheltenham. I reserved 20 seats – most are made up from i-sing choirs with five from the club with just one remaining. The members of “Beyond the Barricade” are former leads in “Les Mis” and this is their 25th Anniversary Tour. Two of them live in the village in Staffordshire where we used to live. I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed if you like musical theatre. Either see me (I’m in this Monday) or get in touch with reception – first come first served. Good luck.

Linda
