Hello everyone,
21st March may well be the official first day of Spring but we seem to have reverted to Winter! We went to see our elder daughter and family in Guildford yesterday. Not only did we drive through hail on the way but walking from their house to lunch out was freezing in the rain and biting wind. At least it’s sunny today but no warmer.
A reminder that the club will be open from 6.00p.m. to 9.00p.m. this Wednesday, 27th March for members to play club comps or any unplayed league matches. Please book rinks at reception.
Please note, we are open as usual on both Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Please read the following and, if you feel you could help, please get in touch with Max, Kath or anyone in reception. I explained in the last newsletter what is required in these competitions. I’m not sure of the date but entries have to be made by some time in April this year (i.e. in a few weeks’ time). In the past we have entered these comps and would love to bring them back to the club. Please give it some thought and, if you think you fit the bill, please get in touch.
EIBA National Club Competitions 2024/25
Dear Member,
MidGlos management wish to enter National Club Competitions in 2024/25 and require a named club member to manage one or two of the following club officer positions:
Open under 30’s
Over 60’s double rink
Mixed Top Club
Egham Trophy
Please inform the Men’s Secretary (Max Butler), Kath or the office.
There is still one place on the Board to be filled. It would be beneficial if that place were to be filled by a younger member to give a younger voice and focus on the Board. At the moment, meetings are held during the day but this is not set in stone. Should someone who is still working comes onto the Board, then meetings would be held in the evenings. That is not an issue. Again, give it some thought.
I hope you’ve all noticed that the dates for the finals are now on Wednesday, 3rd and Saturday, 6th April. The former had to be changed from 7th since Louie Hodges and Fin Williamson are playing in finals in Nottingham on that day. We wish them every success.
Since there were insufficient entries for Australian Pairs on Wednesday mornings in the summer, all seven rinks will be available to be pre-booked via reception for roll-ups or friendly games.
I’m off to freeze in the garden now. Let’s hope that this cold spell is short lived.
Take care.
Linda
