Newsletter Issue 178

Hello everyone,

I can’t believe that a twelfth of the year has almost gone! But at least the days are lengthening. Our summer outdoor bowlers are already talking about the coming outdoor season. It’s really sad for those of us who choose to play indoors all the year round to have to say “au revoir” to so many of our friends.

However, we’re not there yet so let’s not think about it. There is actually very little to say this week since it’s been a quiet week-end. The friendly against Bishops Cleeve due to be played on Saturday was cancelled.

As far as I know, it’s another quiet week-end coming up. The following week-end is different, though.

On Friday, 9th February, we have the important “Future of the Club” meeting when we hope to have as many of you there as possible. As I’ve said many times before, it is now our club (both the building and the grounds) so the onus is on us (all of us) to keep it going – hence the meeting. Hopefully, Howard and I will be back in time from the funeral back in Stone, Staffordshire of a very dear friend of ours.

On Saturday, 10th February, the ladies’ interclub is in the morning at 10.00 while the men are playing at 13.00. Good luck to all involved. Again, spectators are most welcome with the added attraction of bacon or sausage baps. The following day, our Wessex B team is against Carterton. Good luck again to everyone involved.

Another reminder about the Tony Allcock game on Saturday, 17th February. There are lots of names down but still room for more especially ladies. Don’t forget, we are the present holders, ladies. Let’s try to do it again!

I think that’s all for now. Take care,

Linda
